Endeavour 2009 Press Release

The University of Melbourne's Endeavour Exhibition, the annual showcase of projects undertaken by final year Electrical, Electronic and Software Engineering students, will be held on Thursday October 29th at the University's Parkville campus.

The exhibition is a free public event welcoming school students, academics, industry members and the general public.

This year's exhibition features over 50 groundbreaking projects, including:
  • JimiBot - a guitar playing robot
  • Visual Haptic Game - an interactive game to be used in the rehabilitation of stroke patients
  • Hands Free Mouse - control your mouse with a camera using tracking of the eye
  • Nuclear Source Backtracking - allowing the location of chemical or nuclear threats through a simple device such as an iPhone; and
  • Guitar Hero is way too easy... an interface that allows you to play the popular game Guitar Hero with a real guitar!

There are several events held throughout the day:
Starting at 10am, Endeavour Adventure is a program encouraging secondary school students to consider a further education in engineering. The students are the first to tour the Endeavour Exhibition and are welcomed to question project designers about their creations. They later hear from engineering students, academics, and professionals about the life of an engineer and the exciting possibilities an engineering degree has to offer.

The Endeavour Exhibition is open to the general public from 11am-4pm and is followed by the Endeavour Industry Night from 6.30pm-9.30pm. The Industry Night provides a platform for industry representatives to interact with final year students and view the projects of our graduating class. The evening will also feature an awards ceremony recognising the best projects of the year.
